Hilbert College announced that three baseball student-athletes have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Senior
Jack Duffek earned his second consecutive Academic All-District® honor and was joined by a pair of sophomore teammates,
Joey Haynes and
Dustin Hendrix.
The CSC Academic All-District® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined excellence in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, position players must have competed in at least 90% of their team's games or started in 66% of them. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched a minimum of 25 innings. All nominees must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Jack Duffek (Orchard Park, N.Y.) has been Mr. Dependable for the Hawks on the diamond and in the classroom over the last three academic years. He completed his Hilbert career with a 3.679 GPA and graduated with an accounting degree last month. Duffek, a 2x AMCC Third Team All-Conference selection, recorded 41 hits, 25 runs, and knocked in 28 RBI's off eight doubles, one triple and a team-best five home runs this spring from the DH spot.
Joey Haynes, a first-year Hawk, led the team in almost all offensive categories while maintaining a 3.83 cumulative grade point average in pursuit of a business management degree. The 2022 St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute graduate registered a team-best .427 batting average, 1.090 OPS, 53 hits, 33 runs along with 20 RBI's. He recorded seven doubles, one triple and added two home runs while striking out only eight times as he collected 17 stolen bases. Haynes was named a first team all-conference selection and landed a spot on the third team of the ABCA/Rawlings Region 7 All-District team.
Dustin Hendrix, a true sophomore from Southwestern High School, also exploded onto the scene this spring. The Second Team All-Conference first baseman finished in the top three hitting slots with Duffek and Haynes. Hendrix recorded 40 hits, 28 runs, plated 34 runs and registered a team-best 14 doubles, one triple along with three home runs. The Lakewood native, working towards a biology degree, has achieved a 3.833 cumulative grade point average through four semesters of work at Hilbert.
