Joey Haynes Named to ABCA All-Region Team

The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all 10 regions.

For the second time in three seasons, Hilbert Baseball was recognized with respect by the other voting coaches.  Joey Haynes (Wheatfield, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute | Canisius) earned a spot on the Region 7 All-District Third Team after a spectacultar rookie season with the Hawks.

The 5-10 OF finished 10th in the nation in on base percentage (.571) 12th in the nation in batting average (.459) and only struck out once in 66 plate appearances during AMCC league play.  He led the Hawks with  a team-best .427 batting average, recording 53 hits, 33 runs, 20 RBI's fueled off seven doubles, one triple and a pair of home runs.  Over the course of 36 games, he struck out only eight times, walked 21 times and stole 17 bags.

Haynes joins Thomas Evans, Brendan Walsh, and Patrick Whelan on the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region team.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.

The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union. Also on the committee are Brian Casey (U.S. Coast Guard Academy), Pete Egbert (Misericordia University), Dan Gomez (Western New England University), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Yogi Lutz (Alvernia University), Nick Pontari (Russell Sage College), and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-America teams will be announced the evening of Thursday, May 29 immediately following the Opening Ceremony at the 2025 NCAA Div. III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio. Only First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors.

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 18. The 2025 ABCA NCAA Div. III Region All-Defensive teams will be announced on Thursday, June 19.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 36 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
