HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Athletics Department is pleased to announce the final pair of Hilbert College Athletes of the Week for May 4, 2026.
Emma Gionta (Softball) and Joey Haynes (Baseball) were recognized for their athletic performances during their respective team's run last week.
Emma Gionta (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) had a pair of 3-hit games this past week to lead the Hawks to victory in her final game at Hilbert. Gionta finished the week going 8 for 11 with a pair of doubles, one walk, six runs scored and two RBIs. Her top performance came in game two against Carlow University, when she went 3-for-4, which included one double while scoring two runs in the Hawks shutout victory over the Celtics. Her defensive coverage behind the plate helped Stephanie Mirras secure her second complete game and first shutout of the season.
Joey Haynes (Wheatfield, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute | Canisius U) had a pair of 3-hit games this past week to lead the Hawks to three wins. Haynes finished the week going 8 for 12 with a pair of doubles, five walks, five stolen bases, five runs scored and five RBIs. His top performance came in game one against Penn State Altoona, logging three hits and three RBI to lift the Hawks to their first AMCC postseason bye in program history.
