BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Hilbert College Baseball wrapped up non-conference play with a Tueaday afternoon doubleheader at 33rd Street Field with a split against Geneva, opening the day with an 11–5 victory before dropping a tightly contested 4–2 decision in the nightcap. The Hawks combined aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and steady pitching to secure the opening win before coming up just short late in game two.

Game One: Hilbert 11 – Geneva 5

Hilbert came out aggressively in the opener, applying pressure on the bases from the first inning. Joey Haynes walked to start the game, stole second and third, and scored on Reed Lesmeister's sacrifice fly to give the Hawks an early lead. Hilbert added another run in the second, capitalizing on wild pitches to build a 2–0 advantage.

The Hawks broke the game open in the third inning with a five‑run outburst. Shane Pray and Harley Hoag delivered RBI hits, Mason Eckman drove in a run, and Alex Ellison reached on an error that allowed two more runs to score as Hilbert surged in front 7–1. The Hawks continued to tack on runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with Lesmeister launching a solo home run in the fourth before John Watson and Ellison each lifted sacrifice flies. Pray capped the scoring in the fifth with an RBI single, extending the lead to 11–2.

Geneva rallied for three runs late, but the Hawks' bullpen closed the door to seal the win. Alex Rumfola earned the victory in relief with a scoreless inning, while Andre Borges, Jacob Kim‑Kubiak, and Andrew Cole combined to finish the contest. Hoag led the offense with three hits and two runs scored, Pray added two hits and two RBI, and Lesmeister drove in two runs while homering. Haynes scored twice and stole two bases as Hilbert finished with 10 hits and six stolen bases in the win.

Game Two: Geneva 4 – Hilbert 2

Hilbert again struck early in game two, manufacturing a run in the top of the first inning. Haynes singled, advanced on a balk, stole third base, and later scored on a Geneva throwing error to give the Hawks a quick 1–0 advantage. Geneva answered in the bottom of the frame with an unearned run to even the contest after one.

The score remained tied until the third inning, when Geneva strung together a pair of hits to plate two runs and take a 3–1 lead. Hilbert continued to battle offensively and pulled within one in the fifth. Ellison reached base and moved into scoring position before coming home on Haynes' sacrifice fly to trim the deficit to 3–2.

Geneva added an insurance run in the sixth, and Hilbert threatened in the seventh by putting runners on base but was unable to deliver the tying hit. Haynes paced the offense with three hits, scoring a run and driving in the Hawks' other tally. Reed Lesmeister and Harley Hoag chipped in base hits as Hilbert finished with six hits in the nightcap.

Jase Burdon started on the mound and worked 2.2 innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. Ryan Hilton, Ronald Mort, and David Alessi combined to hold Geneva to just one run over the final four innings, keeping the Hawks within striking distance.

Hilbert Highlights

Haynes set the tone across the doubleheader with four hits, three runs scored, three stolen bases, and two RBI. Hoag recorded a three‑hit game in the opener, while Lesmeister delivered key run production with a home run and multiple RBI. The Hawks' bullpen limited Geneva late in both contests, supporting Hilbert's split on the road.
