HAMBURG, N.Y. – John Riviere-Vejas was named the Hilbert College Male Athlete of the Year as selected by the Hawks' head coaches and support staff.

The senior second baseman concluded his Hilbert Baseball career in style with regional and conference recognition as an outstanding infielder for the Hawks.

Riviere-Vejas (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School | Bryant & Stratton) was named to the D3baseball.com All-Region 7 team after earning a spot on the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference First Team this spring.

After a hamstring injury sidelined him for seven games early in the season, the 5-10 spark plug started 32 games in 2024.  He recorded 38 runs, 46 hits, nine doubles, two triples and drove in 23 runs while earning seven walks, eight HBP with a .436 on base percentage. 

Riviere-Vejas led the Hawks with 21 stolen bases and was second on the team with a .368 batting average. He set a new single season record for highest stolen base percentage during his senior campaign successfully advancing 21 of 22 times in addition to leading the AMCC during the 16-game league schedule with 10 stolen bases, and 30 hits off a .462 batting average.

Riviere-Vejas garnered a 2024 First Team all-conference honor after being named to the Third Team in 2022, his first year at Hilbert.  After setting single season records in 2022 (most stolen bases/most attempts and most double plays turned) he added to his career totals this year, graduating as the program leading in runs scored (99) and highest stolen base percentage (.938). off a program best 61-of-65 stolen bases/attempts.

Riviere-Vejas graduated with a Criminal Justice degree in May.
