ERIE, Pa. – The Hilbert College Men's Track and Field team competed in the program's very first conference championship today when they traveled to Penn State Behrend for the United East Conference Championship meet.
Four Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference members (Alfred State College, Carlow University, Hilbert College and Penn State Behrend) are competing as affiliate members in the UEC weekend.
Only five Hawks competed on Day 1 and all five individuals performed at their highest level this spring.
Noble Arterberry tossed a new Hilbert distance of 27.76m in the discus breaking the old record held by
Ben Anderson who reached for 26.66m today. They finished in 20th and 22nd place respectively.
Zy'Mere Covington edged his bother Zai'Mar retaking the program record in the 100m dash in 11.25. They both advanced to the 100m dash finals tomorrow.
Da'Von Cockrell broke his old 200m dash record with a 22.95 time and he too advanced to the 200m finals tomorrow.
Zai'Mar Covington finished in 11th place overall in the long jump reaching a new distance of 5.86m for another Hilbert record.
The Hawks will return to Erie tomorrow with the competition beginning at 11:00 am.
