Riviere-Vejas Named Second Team All-Region

HAMBURG, N.Y. – John Riviere-Vejas was recognized as a Second Team All-Region 7 player when the 12th annual D3baseball.com awards were announced today. 

Senior 2B John Riviere-Vejas (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Loughlin Memorial | Bryant & Stratton) concluded his third season with the Hawks in grand fashion. After a hamstring injury held him out of seven games early in the season, he recorded 38 runs, 46 hits, nine doubles, two triples and drove in 23 runs while earning seven walks, eight HBP with a .436 On Base percentage. Riviere-Vejas led the Hawks with 21 stolen bases and was second on the team with a .368 batting average. The 5'10 infielder set a new single season record in highest stolen base percent this spring successfully advancing 21 of 22 times over 32 games.  

He led the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference during the 16-game league schedule with 10 stolen bases, and 30 hits off a .462 batting average while finishing second in runs (20) and at bats (65). 

Riviere-Vejas garnered a 2024 First Team AMCC All-Conference honor this spring after being named to the Third Team All-AMCC in 2022, his first year at Hilbert.  At the conclusion of the 2022 season, he set single season records in most stolen bases (29), most attempts (32) and most double plays turned (18). Riviere-Vejas graduated as the program leader in runs scored (99) and highest stolen base percentage (.938) off a program-best 61-of-65 stolen base/attempts.  

Denison's OF Eric Colaco was named the Region 7 Player of the Year while DePauw's Michael Vallone was picked as the Pitcher of the Year. Denison's C Jack Lutte was selected as the Rookie of the Year and his head coach, MIke Deegan, was named the Coach of the Year. 

Five other AMCC baseball players garnered D3baseball All-Region 7 recognition.  The AMCC Player of the Year, Mount Aloysius College's Tyler Quade, and Pitt-Greensburg's James Domer, were named to the First Team while John Riviere-Vejas was the only AMCC Second Team selection. Three Penn State Behrend Lions, Silvio Ionadi, Colin Bolla and Jake Manendo, all earned spots on the Third Team.
