GENESEO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Men's Track and Field team made their first appearance in an outdoor meet this afternoon and multiple program records were either set or broken as the Hawks begin their second season of outdoor competition.
The Hawks registered a 17-man deep roster for today's meet at SUNY Geneseo's multi-surface track. Hilbert faced the largest and most talented field of competitors early this spring racing against Division I, II and III regional programs.
Freshman
Zy'Mere Covington was the fastest of the four Hawks who competed in the 100M dash as he set a new record of 11.61 (8th place overall), and then became the first Hawk to ever compete in the Triple Jump setting a Hilbert record of 11.84M. Freshman
Zai'Mar Covington did the same in the Long Jump, setting a record of 5.35M and freshman
Da'Von Cockrell broke the 200M with a 24.35.
Freshman
Nazir Mckelley also was the first Hilbert Track athlete to tackle the 110M hurdles crossing the finishing line in 19.25 while
Noble Arterberry did the same as the first Hawk with a 9.94M shot put toss.
Then the 4x400 relay team of
Jamal Harris Jr.,
Sam Holden,
Jason Vullo and
Nick Baritot were the fastest quad from Hilbert clipping the timer in 3:48.10 breaking last spring's record setting time by seconds.
Hilbert returns to action next Saturday when they compete at the University of Rochester's Alumni Invitational at Edward Fauver Stadium.
