HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Athletics Department is pleased to announce the Hilbert College Hawks of the Week for March 13th.
Victoria Hanley (Softball) and
Patrick Whelan (Baseball) were recognized for their efforts last week in the first full week of their respective seasons.
Infielder
Victoria Hanley made her freshman debut at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The 5'6 rookie hit a blistering .667 through four games. She made nine appearances with six hits while scoring three runs for the 0-8 Hawks. The Colonie Central (Colonie, N.Y.) graduate finished the week with zero errors in seven chances playing the hot corner.
Senior
Patrick Whelan (Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon-Saint Jude) had an outstanding week at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The 6'3 first baseman finished the week posting a .444 batting average, .833 slugging percentage and 1.33 OPS after logging three multi-hit games. Whelan scored three times, knocked in four runs after smacking four extra base hits, including a home run in the five games he played.
