HAMBURG, N.Y. – By vote of the Hilbert College athletic administrators on campus, Drew Fittry has been honored with the Hilbert College Sal Buscaglia Coach of the Year award after leading the Hawks baseball program to record-setting accomplishments during the 2022 season.

In his sixth season as the Hawks' head coach, Fittry guided Hilbert through a 16-20 overall record and a 5th seed in postseason after going 8-8 in AMCC action.  The Hawks set new program records in overall wins and set a new AMCC win percentage while tying the program's best AMCC win record, and they finished 11th nationally in stolen bases per game (2.97) while leading the AMCC in stolen bases with 107.

Four Hilbert players were selected to the AMCC All-Conference team - landing one on the First, one on the Second and two on the Third team.  Two players were named to the d3baseball National Team of the Week and, for the first time in six years, a Hilbert Hawk was recognized at the regional level by grabbing a spot on the d3baseball.com All-Region team this spring.

As a team, the Hawks set 15 Single Season records and three players combined for a total of five new Single Season records while one additional player already became the program's All-Time leader in five different categories in just his rookie campaign.

Assistant coaches Anthony Ballistrea, Brendan Toughey, Kendall Bazinet and Zachary Crane were recognized for their leadership in guiding the Hawks to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference postseason tournament for the fourth time in six years.
