Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Hilbert College baseball team opened their season by splitting a pair with Bridgewater State University this evening. The Hawks bounced back from a game one loss to steal the night cap 3-2.

Game 2: Hilbert 3, Bridgewater State 2

Game One:
* Misael Guzman Caez got the opening-day nod for the Hawks, going four innings while allowing four earned runs on six hits and struck out a pair.
* Jonathan Wilson got the scoring started in the second as he doubled to deep left and scored on a Brandon Job RBI double. Job then scored on a Jairo Santos RBI single through the right side.
* BSU chased Hilbert starter Misael Guzman Caez from the game after four innings with five unanswered runs.
* The Bears tacked on 11 more runs off a trio of Hawks relievers to build a 16-2 advantage.
* The Hawks manufactured one more in the nineth via leadoff walk, followed by a balk, followed by a pair of groundouts to advance and later score pinch runner Nicholas Barberio.
Game Two:
* Patrick Whelan gave the Hawks an early 3-0 lead after one when he sent a 3-run shot over centerfield for his first of the young season.
* Freshman Camerin Holmes went the distance in his first collegiate start, tossing a four-hitter and didn't allow an earned run while racking up 11 strikeouts.
* The Bears threatened to tie it up in the sixth frame, but a pivotal line drive unassisted double play by shortstop Jairo Santos swung the momentum back to the Hawks.
* Holmes set the Bears offense down in order in the final frame to secure his first collegiate win.
