Wurstner Scores Twice as Hawks Fall to Arcadia Under Lights

FORT MYERS, Fla – Hilbert College held early 2-0 lead through five innings in their opening game of the 2014 season.  But after going through a stable of pitchers in the sixth inning, the Hawks suffered a 10-2 loss in their first 9-inning game of the season. 

Tyler Roth went five innings and helped stymie Arcadia University, but in the top of the 6th  the Knights from Glenside, PA exploded with seven runs.  The Hawks were held scoreless their next four innings and dropped their game which was played under the lights.

Anthony Wurstner was hot from the plate for Hilbert.  He went 2 for 3 and scored two runs with a single in the first and fifth innings. Joe Pernick earned the Hawks only RBI and joined Wurstner with the only Hawk hits.

Tyler Roth struck out five batters while walking only two.  Justin Crawley closed the game covering 2.2 innings and combined with Roth for the Hawks eight strike outs.

Hilbert returns to action tomorrow morning when they battle Delaware Valley in a double header beginning at 9 am.
