Rachel Allen’s double victory against Bradford helped her earn her first Hawk of the Week honor this year.

The junior pitcher went 2-1 in the circle and assisted the softball team as they broke a 26-game losing streak to Pitt-Bradford.  She carried the Hawks in the series sweep on April 13th after Allen opened the week with a six-inning defeat to Penn State Behrend.

Allen tossed three complete games consisting of 20 innings of pitches, 15 hits and two earned runs while striking out 11.

Her impressive stat-line was covering the series against Bradford holding the Panthers to just eight hits and no earned runs through 14 innings.  The Tonawanda native struck out four in the 2-1 win and then limited Bradford in the night cap to just one hit through the first six innings.  The Panthers manufactured three hits in the bottom of the 7th before their final out.
