Miller Tabbed Co-Defensive Player of the Year

DiMaria, Newman, Sage and Shehadi Join Miller on All-Conference Team

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2025 Men's Lacrosse Postseason honors this morning and five Hilbert Hawks were recognized as All-Conference selections.

Hilbert College goaltender Griffin Miller shared Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors with Alfred State College's LSM Brady Nugent, and, after Alfred State College went 3-0 in league play, Ethan Thompson was named the Coach of the Year while Attack Griffin Doan was selected the Newcomer of the Year.  Pitt-Bradford's Attack Ben Byers rounded out the major awards after being named the Offensive Player of the Year.

Joey DiMaria, Jason Sage, Mason Shehadi and Kristopher Newman joined Griffin Miller on the 2025 AMCC All-Conference team.

DiMaria, Sage and Newman combined for almost 70% of the Hawks' goals this season and Shehadi, whose efforts on the field were not captured statistically most of the season, helped limit the pressure on Miller in goal.  The 5-8 Hawks played in the program's first AMCC Championship game and ranked nationally in Division III stats: 8th in man down defense, 25th in caused turnovers, 33rd in saves and 59th in scoring defense thanks in part to Shehadi and Miller in the backfield.

Griffin Miller (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) finished the season with three consecutive AMCC Defensive Player of the Week honors after being named the 2025 AMCC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year pick.  He led the AMCC with 189 saves with a 64.1% save percentage, while also finishing with a league-best 8.84 goals against average.  Miller recorded a season-high 25 saves against Alfred State in the regular season and collected 20-or-more saves in four games this spring. The 6-1 goaltender finished the season ranked second in Division III with a 0.641 save percentage, is ranked 27th in saves per game and 29th in goals-against average.

Joey DiMaria (Hilton, NY/Hilton) recorded 46 points after scoring 38 goals (.701 shots on goal) while dishing eight assists during the season.  He established a new single-game scoring record after burning Elmira College for 10 goals on senior day.  The 2025 AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year pick, was named the AMCC Offensive Player of the Week twice in April.  The 5-11 attack finished the season ranked 59th in Division III in goals per game and 187th in points per game.

Kristopher Newman (Milford, Va/Matoaca | Medaille) appeared in all 13 games and became the Hawks primary face-off specialist in the final six games of the season.  He went 54-of-104 in the face off X and scooped 38 ground balls this spring. The 6-5 junior recorded 14 goals and earned a career-high four goals while winning 12-of-14 faceoffs against La Roche University.

Jason Sage (Akron, NY/Clarence) was the Hawks' second-leading scorer with 15 goals while adding 11 assists.  He led the Hawks with 46 ground balls and forced 12 turnovers.  The 5-10 midfielder recorded a career-high three goals against Bryn Athyn, five points (2g/3a) against La Roche, four caused turnovers against Alfred State in the league championship game and attempted 14 shots against MCLA.

Mason Shehadi (Hilton, NY/Hilton), another four-year starter for the Hawks, seldom left the field this spring.  He served as the coach on the field, providing leadership and elevated expectations for the team when games were close.  The 6-2 defender matched Sage with a team-best 46 ground balls and finished with 20 caused turnovers.  Shehadi closed his final season ranked 155th in Division III in caused turnovers per game.

This season marks the first time the Hawks were recognized as primary members of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. This year's five honorees join 17 lacrosse alumni who were tabbed AMCC All-Conference players or newcomers of the year while they competed as full members of the North East Athletic Conference.
