PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hilbert Men's Lacrosse capped off the 2026 season in impressive fashion on Tuesday afternoon, earning an 11-2 victory over La Roche University.
The Hawks (3-6) set the tone early and never looked back, using a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive effort to control the game from start to finish. Hilbert led 3-1 after the opening quarter and continued to build momentum, shutting out La Roche (0-11) in both the second and third periods to take a commanding 8-1 lead into the final frame.
Leading the way was
Kristopher Newman, who delivered a career-defining performance with seven goals on 14 shots. Newman scored in every quarter and proved to be a constant challenge for the Redhawks' defense. The senior midfielder added a pair of goals late in the second quarter that helped Hilbert seize full control of the contest.
Eric Capling added a strong all-around effort with a goal and two assists, while also contributing five ground balls.
Aidan Franko chipped in a goal on seven shots, and
Brendan Reilly and
Nikolas D'Andrea, who joined the team a week ago, each found the back of the net as well.
Ty Franko and
Nathaniel Dell each recorded an assist to round out Hilbert's scoring.
Defensively, the Hawks were just as dominant. Hilbert held La Roche to just 11 total shots and only three on goal.
Kody Moore earned the win in goal, making one save while allowing just two goals across 60 minutes of action.
The Hawks controlled possession throughout, winning 13 of 17 faceoffs behind
Alex Arthur's efforts at the X, and finishing with a 42-22 advantage in ground balls.
Jonathan Roustum and
David Bolin led the defensive unit with seven ground balls apiece, helping limit La Roche's offensive opportunities.
Hilbert's consistent play on both ends of the field highlighted a complete team performance in the season finale. The victory serves as a strong closing statement for the Hawks.
