GREENSBURG, Pa. – Hilbert College Women's Bowling secured the program's very first appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference post-season tournament after they went 2-1 on Day 2 of the AMCC Traditional Round Robin Tournament.
The Hawks earned dominating wins over Alvernia (845-729) and Pitt-Bradford (825-732) to open the morning, then slipped in a close match to Penn State Behrend (877-826).
For the second day in a row, Hilbert's team average through three matches was higher than their opponents – 832.0 - 779.3.
Two Hawks threw high numbers with
Jenna Angle rolling a 226 against Alvernia while
Julia Stutz tossed a 222 in the middle match against Bradford.
Jenna Angle finished the day with a personal-best 192 AMCC average, and
Julia Stutz notched a 177 average for three matches.
Victoria Hanley rolled against Bradford (153) and led the Hawks in their final match against Penn State Behrend with a team-best 194
#5 Hilbert (7-40, 5-9 AMCC) will advance to the program's first postseason tournament which begins March 21st. The Hawks will square off against #4 Penn State Behrend at 10:00 am with the winner advancing to the double elimination mega match tournament at Pine Plaza Lanes, Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Hawks will continue their regular season schedule next weekend when they participate in a dual match against Roberts Wesleyan University at Classic Lanes.
