ERIE, Pa. - The Hilbert College Women's Bowling team made an impressive statement in their opening weekend of competition, finishing Day 2 of the Grapevine Classic with a 3-2 record in Baker matches and setting three new program records.
The tournament, hosted by the Erie Sports Commission and Penn State Behrend at the Eastland Bowling Center, saw the Hawks bounce back from two early losses with a dominant stretch that included historic performances on the lanes.
Hilbert opened the day with a thrilling 806-802 win over Daemen University, marking their first Baker-format victory since 2021 and just the third win over the Wildcats in 19 total matchups. The Hawks then cruised past Pitt-Bradford with a 163-pin victory (884-721) before saving their best for last in the tournament's final positional match.
In a stunning finale, Hilbert recorded:
- Highest Baker Match Score in program history: 927
- Highest Single Game Score: 253
- Largest Margin of Victory: 228 pins (927-699 over Pitt-Bradford)
Earlier in the day, the Hawks were edged by Penn State Behrend (788-730) and Saint Vincent College (939-846) but closed the weekend with a 5-5 overall record - an encouraging start to the season.

Julia Stutz was named to the All-Tournament team finishing in 4th place in individual scoring after knocking down 1,011 pins for a record-setting 202.20 average through five matches.

Sara Snyder. "Setting multiple records in just our first competition shows the focus and potential this group has. We're excited to build on this momentum."
The Hawks return to the lanes on November 1
st and 2nd when they travel to Niagara Falls, N.Y., to compete in the Niagara Brunswick Fall Invite at the Rapids Bowling Center.
