HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College senior infielder Patrick Whelan was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week today.
Senior first basemen Patrick Whelan was outstanding in the Hawks in the AMCC sweep. After registering a three-hit performance in game one, Whelan was even better in game two recording a five-hit game while belting a pair of home runs to send the Hawks to the AMCC Championship next weekend. The Bishop Timon-St. Jude graduate finished the day with eight hits, seven RBI, four runs scored, a walk, hit by pitch and stolen base. Whelan finished the day batting .727 with a 1.273 slugging percentage and an astonishing 1.987 OPS.
Whelan, in only his second season at Hilbert College, has already broken multiple single season and career records. He became the program's all-time leader this year in Triples and RBI and set new single season records in Hits, and RBIs in 2023.
