Ashley Schroeder and
Alesia Hamm were Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference selections today when the AMCC announced the 2023 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team and Award Winners.
Ashley Schroeder was picked to the Second Team while
Alesia Hamm earned Third Team recognition.
Pitt-Greensburg's Sidney McCully was named the Defensive Player of the Year while also sharing Co-Player of the Year honors with Danajah Sanders from La Roche University. Penn State Behrend's Madilyn Boyer garnered the Newcomer of the Year award and La Roche's Kam Gissendanner and her staff were named the Coach of the Year.
Ashley Schroeder (Caledonia, MN/Caledonia) and
Alesia Hamm (Buffalo, N.Y./Mount Mercy) were dependable players and teammates, and they were the focus of every opponent as they prepared to play the Hawks this year. Hilbert (6-8) battled to a No. 5 seed in the post-season tournament and advanced to the championship weekend after upsetting the No. 4 Penn State Altoona Lions in the First Round game.
For the second year in a row, Schroeder has been named an all-conference selection after being voted to the Third Team in 2022. The 5-7 point guard led the AMCC in free throw attempts and makes (105/145) and finished the season ranked third in scoring with a 16.4 points per game average. Schroeder averaged 34.0 minutes, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. She recorded 444 points, 128 rebounds, 69 assists, 19 blocks and 50 steals. Schroeder scored 30+ points against three different opponents, posting a season-high 32 against Buffalo State in December. She dished a season-high five assists in five games and was credited with six steals twice. Schroeder was named the AMCC Player of the Week twice during the season and was selected to the 2023 AMCC All-Tournament Team.
Alesia Hamm's motor never stopped this year, as she led the AMCC in minutes (933) and offensive rebounds (126) as a 5'7 guard. She too started all 27 games for the Hawks and averaged 34.6 minutes per game. Hamm averaged 8.4 points and 8.8 rebounds, pulling down 126 on the offensive glass. She recorded 227 points, 237 rebounds, 37 assists, five blocks and 36 steals, and added five double-doubles to her basketball resume. This year, Hamm established a career-high 18 points at Mount Aloysius and a career-high rebounding performance at Pitt-Bradford. This award is Hamm's first post-season honor.
