PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hilbert College Women's Basketball wrapped up its AMCC regular season campaign this afternoon, falling 55-46 on the road to Carlow.
The Hawks opened the matchup with an early three from
Mia Aldaya and kept close during a back‑and‑forth first quarter, but the Celtics' late scoring push gave the hosts a narrow 15-11 edge heading into the second.
The second quarter featured a steady defensive stretch from the Hawks, who limited Carlow to 21 percent shooting from the field while finding rhythm from deep with
Kayla Johnson and Aldaya each adding threes.
Learsi Sabala's jumper with four seconds left sent the Hawks into the locker room down 26-21.
Carlow used consistent offense to extend its advantage out of the break, but Johnson poured in six points in the frame to Keep the Hawks in it, including the final four points of the quarter to make it 39-31 after 30 minutes.
Johnson (eight points) and Sabala (seven points) ignited the Hawks' offense in the game's final ten minutes, combining for all 15 of the team's point. However, Carlow was able to close the game out at the free throw line to deny a Hilbert comeback effort and take a 55-46 AMCC victory.
Johnson paced Hilbert with 19 points, hitting three three‑pointers and sparking several offensive runs. Sabala delivered her third double‑double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds while
Bianca Iten added nine boards of her own, to go along with six points off the bench.
