Hawks Knocked Out of AMCC Postseason by Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. –Hilbert College Women's Basketball took on Penn State Altoona on the road this evening in the first round of the AMCC Postseason. The sixth seeded Hawks saw their season come to an end after a 63-32 defeat to the third-seeded Lions.

Penn State Altoona established control early, opening the game on a 10-0 run and holding Hilbert without a field goal for over seven minutes. Learsi Sabala ended the Lions' run to get the Hawks on the board and Kayla Johnson connected on a late jumper in the quarter.

The Hawks found momentum in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to single digits midway through the period. A fast-break jumper from Johnson and a inside makes from Hailey Alba and Bianca Iten sparked a surge that cut the margin to 23-14.

After Iten's second bucket of the frame made it 25-16, Altoona used back-to-back layups to take a 29-16 halftime lead.

Coming out of the break, Penn State Altoona used a decisive 20-5 third quarter to extend its advantage beyond 20 points heading into the final ten minutes. Johnson and Sabala each added jumpers in the period, while Nyema Blair connected on a free throw.

The Hawks continued to battle in the fourth, as Sabala converted a pair of free throws and later added a late layup, while Blair knocked down a three-pointer in the closing minutes. Johnson continued to attack offensively, adding a bucket to finish with a team-high 10 points and a spot on the 2026 All-Tournament Team.

Sabala provided eight points, five rebounds and a team-high three assists, while Iten pulled down a team-high ten boards to go along with her six points.
