The first AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week features Hilbert College at Penn State Altoona. Both the Hawks and the Lions have opened up AMCC play at 1-0 after the first conference game of the season.
The 5-2 (1-0 AMCC) Hawks have settled into an evenly-balanced scoring system with five of their six top performers shooting 52% or better from the field. The 2024 Preseason Player of the Year, Quran Briggs, tosses in 14.9 points per game, hitting 90% from the foul line (27-30), while Edward Perez (14.1ppg / 7.9rpg) and Jahmel Demery (11.0ppg / 8.0rpg) do damage close to the rim having each recorded a pair of double doubles already this semester. The Hawks distribute the ball well as the AMCC leaders, Kyreese Fisher and Justin Poumpey, each average 3.9 assists per game.
Penn State Altoona men's basketball will look to win its second AMCC game in as many contests, as the Lions host conference opponent Hilbert this Saturday afternoon in the Adler Arena. Four different Lions are averaging double digits in points for the team this season. Senior forward Mason Bush leads the way with 11.0 points per game, followed by sophomore guard Kaden Claar with 10.8 points per game and junior forward Dwayne Jones averaging 10.5 points per game. Junior guard Jahmar White has scored 11.5 points per game in two contests this season. Defensively, Jones leads the team with 5.8 defensive boards per game and 1.3 blocks per game.
