HAMBURG, N.Y. –
Macy Kisner was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year when the league office released the 2022 Women's Basketball Postseason honors this afternoon.
Kisner and
Ashley Schroeder were both honored by the nine head coaches as Third Team All-Conference selections.
Pitt-Greensburg's Nadege Durand and La Roche's Ayanna Mazyck were named Co-Players of the Year, La Roche's Makayla Abram earned the Newcomer of the Year Award and Penn State Behrend's Christine VanHook was named the AMCC Coach of the Year.
Kisner and Schroeder helped guide the Hilbert women back to the program's fourth consecutive post-season tournament. The Hawks, who closed the season with a 7-9 league record, earned the 4th seed and hosted a First Round play-off game. Hilbert concluded their season at 8-18, but as a team established a new program Single Game record in Rebounds (76) and Offensive Rebounds (31) February 16.
Macy Kisner became the program's second Defensive Player of the Year and she earned this year's honor after consistent performances on defense and on the glass. The Stanley, NY (Midlakes) native led the AMCC in Total Rebounds (281), Rebounds/game (10.8) and Total Steals (74).
Kisner was recognized as a Third Team selection for her consistency on the court. The two-time AMCC Player of the Week was only one of two players in the AMCC to conclude the season averaging a double-double in points and rebounds (13.5/10.8). The 5-9 forward averaged 35.7 minutes per game and went the entire 26-game schedule without being disqualified for excessive fouls. Kisner earned 12 double doubles this winter with her most impressive performances at the hands of Pitt-Bradford where she burned the Panthers for 20p/20r and 18p/20 rebounds.
Ashley Schroeder, the Hawks' second All-Conference selection, quarterbacked Hilbert this year and, at times, took over the game. The Caledonia, MN (Caledonia) native had the ball in her hands 60-percent of the time and delivered for her teammates. She led the Hawks in scoring (411 points) and was the team-leader in assists (2.2/gm) while adding 5.5 rebounds in 35 minutes per game. The 5-7 point guard was the AMCC leader in Free Throw Attempts and Makes (115-164) and was second in league in points per game (16.4). She posted a career-high 36 points against Alfred State (12-32 FG, 10-10 FT) and dished a season-high seven assists twice. Schroeder would often secure a defensive rebound then go coast-to-coast looking for an And 1 situation, which she often completed.
La Roche's Mazyck had her best season to date, as the senior recorded six double-doubles this season. She averaged 12.4 points and 9.2 rebounds rebounds per game while shooting 33.3 percent from behind the arc. Throughout the regular season, Mazyck scored a total of 250 points, and captured 171 rebounds, while also totaling 43 steals and four blocks. Pitt-Greensburg's Durand finished the regular season third in the AMCC with 16 points per game and seventh in the conference with 8.9 rebounds per game. Durand had 20 games where she scored double-digits, dropping a season-high 25 points twice this season. She also averaged 2.3 steals per game while having seven games with at least four steals.
