Box Score 2 ELMIRA, N.Y. – The men's volleyball team earned its first match victory today in the nightcap of a trimatch played in the Speidel Gym on the campus of Elmira College.
The Hawks earned a 3-1 match victory over The Sage Colleges after they dropped a 3-0 defeat to the hosts, Elmira.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hilbert stayed with Elmira in the opening set, keeping it a 1-to-2 point spread until the Soaring Eagles stretched a one-point game to a 12-7 set. They extended their hold to seven points ( 17-10) and attacked their way to a 25-16 win.
- The Soaring Eagles earned seven of the team's first nine points and stretched their lead to 14-3 fueled by three kills and a pair of service aces. Elmira rolled to a 25-8 second set win off two kills, one service ace and a Hilbert attack error.
- The action in the third set mirrored the second, with Elmira building an 11-4 hold on the score board. The hosts used another five-point run to take a 20-9 lead and continued to earn points from the service line and off the hand of Tinidad Munoz at the net.
GAME NOTES ELMIRA
- Hilbert earned 11 kills (.022), 12 points, one service ace, 10 assists and 9 digs.
- Elmira earned 40 kills (.492), 58 points, 15 service aces, three blocks, 38 assists and 23 digs.
HIGHLIGHTS SAGES
Unofficial stats for the Sages game:
- Converse led the Hawks with 20 kills with a blistering .516 attack percent and added four service aces while Chandler was credited with 36 assists off the Hawks' 41 kills.
- Ryan Levcik (six kills) and Chandler wer each credited with six digs and Dylan Suter scored 10 points fueled by six kills, two service aces and one block solo & two block assists.
UP NEXT
Hilbert opens up AMCC league play this week when they travel to Penn State Behrend Wednesday, February 16 for a 7pm first serve against the Lions.
