LOCKPORT, N.Y. – Hilbert College joined three other western New York bowling programs when they competed in a trio of 5-game baker matches at Allie Brandt Lanes hosted by Daemen College tonight.
The Hawks went 2-1, sandwiching a pair of victories against two Division II programs around a loss to Hilbert's cross-town and AMCC team-to-beat rival.
The Hawks are on fire this season, posting four wins in the team's first eight games; it took last year's 7-27 team all the way to 15 games before they earned four victories.
How the Night Progressed
- Hilbert built a slight edge over the Saints through the first four games (seven pins) then exploded with a 184 -165 5th game win to pull out the 793-767 victory over D'Youville.
- The Hawks were consistent in the second match of the season against Medaille. Hilbert averaged 158 pin falls per game and won the fourth game (169-159) but then suffered a 206-132 fifth game defeat. Medaille was just too consistent on the lanes and took a 966-765 win.
- Hilbert earned the program's first victory (in seven attempts) against Daemen College in the night cap. The Wildcats opened the match with a 165-117 win, which forced the Hawks into action. Hilbert won the next four games and shot their highest score of the night (191) to secure the 804-791 win.
