HAMBURG, N.Y. – The second weekend of basketball season has arrived and the men's basketball program is ready to welcome John Carroll, Keuka College and SUNY Canton to the Hafner Recreation Center.
Coach
Rob deGrandpre is eager to host his 11th Annual Hawks Against Hunger Tip-Off Tournament November 12th and 13th.
The men's basketball program continues to partner with the Buffalo City Mission (BCM) in an effort to give support during the holiday season and they ask for your assistance on the sidelines.
Fans can make financial donations at the door and all proceeds collected will be presented to the Buffalo City Mission at a later date. The BCM's goal of feeding 12,270 meals this upcoming month is lofty, but it takes only $1.98 to feed one person one meal during the holiday period.
Hilbert (0-1) will host Canton (0-0) at 6:00 p.m. Friday and John Carroll (0-1) will face Keuka (0-1) at 8:00 p.m. The Consolation (1:00 p.m.) and Championship (3:00 p.m.) games will be played on Saturday.
Hilbert (12-8 all-time) has played in the title game in eight of the last nine years and claimed the championship twice (2013 and 2015).
John Carroll and Keuka are making their third return to the tourney. The Blue Streak from Ohio are 3-1 all-time, earning the championship in 2017. The Wolves from central N.Y. are 0-4 but are an inaugural member of the tournament history having appeared in both 2010 and 2011.
There will be a $6/person Admission fee charged at the door. But fans who bring a non-perishable food item will be admitted for $5.
Hilbert College students and staff will receive free admission when showing their school ID.
All games will be available via live stream video.
