HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Athletics Department invites the campus community to attend the Hawks basketball double header series against the AMCC league-leaders La Roche University tomorrow afternoon.
On Saturday, February 15th, the Hawks will honor their senior student-athletes and one manager in brief pre-game ceremonies before the teams host their final regular season home game of the 2019-20 season.
Coaches
Rob deGrandpre and
Amy Senefelder will celebrate the outstanding contributions that
Demi Battin,
Taylor Corts,
Alayna DeFazio,
Emily Gawlak,
Ryan Hogan,
Alex Karamanos,
Hunter Martineau,
Masia Phillips and
Ashley Repine have given to their programs prior to the start of their respective games tomorrow. Tiarah Woods, a senior women's basketball manager, will also be acknowledged for all the behind-the-scenes work she has performed since the 2017-18 season.
The 11-6 men's basketball team squares off against the 16-1 Redhawks from Pittsburgh at 2pm in the Hafner Recreation Center. The four Hilbert men's players will be honored beginning at 1:55 pm.
The Hawks sit in a two-way tie with Penn State Altoona for fourth place in AMCC standings and, with three games remaining on the regular season schedule, Hilbert is in a must win situation in order to host a First Round game of the Post Season Tournament, as either the 3rd or 4th seed. Coach deGrandpre has his team working on a 4-game win streak while La Roche is running an 8-game streak dating back to January 18 when they escaped with an 88-85 victory over the Hawks.
The 14-3 women's basketball team will battle against the 16-1 Redhawks who claimed an 84-69 win in Pittsburgh three weeks ago. The five women's players and Tiarah will be honored 25 minutes after the men's game concludes.
La Roche's solo defeat (91-76) was to Penn State Altoona two days after they beat Hilbert, who sits in second place in the league. A Hilbert win over the Redhawks keeps their hopes alive of a regular season three-peat championship, but with three games left to play, there are too many moving parts to call the seeds for play-offs just yet. Coach Senefelder has her team back on a 2-game win streak while the Redhawks are riding a 5-game series.
Thank you to all our fans this winter who supported both the men's and women's programs. Please show up again tomorrow and make some noise so our seniors can go out with a bang.
