HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's basketball team started slowly but found their rhythm around the 10 minute mark in the first half and coasted to a 95-63 exhibition victory over Durham College.
The Lords from Whitby, Ontario Canada put up a good fight but fell to 3-7 after their tenth game of the season. The Hawks have five days left of practice before they open their 2015-16 season next Saturday, November 14 against Geneva College.
Hilbert outrebounded the visitors by only 11, but grabbed more than half their rebounds on the offensive glass. Of the 36 buckets scored, Hilbert was credited with 19 assists and was one bucket shy of double-digits makes from long distance.
For the game, Hilbert shot just over 49% from the floor getting scoring from nine of the 13 guys who played.
Jerame Owens had a great start to his senior season sinking 11 of 15 shots from the floor and grabbing 17 rebounds.
Sean Weisansal had a complete game scoring, dishing the ball and intercepting the passes.
