Box Score COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team rallied in the fourth quarter to remain undefeated in league play after their 13-8 NEAC victory over SUNY Cobleskill April 5. Cobleskill took a 1-0 lead after the first 15 minutes, when their early shot beat
William Wagner in net. Hilbert forced a tie at 10:47 in the second quarter which was short lived as the Fighting Tigers regained the lead at 10:22.
The Hawks strung together four goals - three before half time and one, just seconds after the start of the third quarter, to take a 5-2 lead. Each team traded scores but then at 3:49 the Cobleskill run started. The Tigers hit two in-a-row less than 25-second apart and nailed the final at 1:47 in the third quarter to force a 6-6 tie.
Hilbert took control in the fourth quarter putting three straight points on the board by 11:23. Cobleskill netted again with just less than 10 minutes on the clock yet thirty-seconds later the Hawks answered back. The visitors outscored the Tigers 4-1 during the final six minutes of the contest and with 19-seconds remaining, Hilbert putting the final touches with one last score.
Hilbert dominated ball possession, outshooting the Tigers (46-20) with precision (30-15) ~ shots on goal. Wagner was credited with seven saves for Hilbert while the Cobleskill keeper made 17 saves.
The Hawks (3-2, 3-0 NEAC) return to action Monday, April 7th when they host Alfred State at 4pm in a NEW field location. Hilbert secured the use of Pierce Field in Mulroy Park which is located at the corner of South Park Avenue and Tift Street in South Buffalo.
