AURORA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team claimed a 16-6 NEAC win at Wells College April 17 allowing the Hawks to hold onto second place in the league standings.  Tyler Nicoloff and Elliott Russillio produced 50% of the scoring punch as they each netted four goals.  Hilbert, 6-3 (4-1 NEAC) sit in a two-way tie for second place and have two games remaining before the top four teams advance to play-offs.

Hilbert held a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes of play and extended their lead to 10-2 by half time.  The Hawks padded their lead by two more goals after outscoring the Express 4-2 in the third quarter and then matched the host's effort with two goals in the final period.

Russillio, Nicoloff and Drew Ulbrich gave Hilbert the sweep in first quarter while Doug Takac and Nicoloff doubled up teammates Andrew MacKay, Codie Thomas and Russillio in the second session.  Thomas found two of the team's four tallies with Russillio and Nicoloff adding to their total in the start of the second half.  MacKay and Russillio prevented Wells from winning the fourth quater scoring period.

Codie Thomas added three scores and an assist while Drew Ulbrich led with four assists (1 goal).  Doug Takac posed three assists with his pair of goals.  Brenden Deady earned another win between the pipes after sharing time with Adam Zawadzki.  They combined for four saves.  Nick Kieffer won 11 face-offs picking up eight ground balls along the way.

Hilbert went 22 field-players deep which over shadowed the 12 Express players.  The Hawks doubled-up Wells in shots (46-22), won 15 more face-offs (20-5) and scored 4 man-up goals.

The Hawks return to action this weekend when they travel to Morrisville Saturday.  They turn around and will prepare for their final NEAC game next Wednesday when they host Cazenovia on Senior Day at 4pm.  Hilbert closes out their regular season with a game at La Roche College April 26.
