CAMBRIDGE, MA Adam Weaver finished the five-set match with a whopping 34 kills, but the Hilbert College volleyball team was out-played at the net and service line in their 3-2 loss to Bard College on the second day of the United Volleyball Conference cross-over weekend.

Beyond Weaver's .453 attack percentage, only Andrew Duncan's .214 gave the Hawks positive hitting.   Korey Schwab finished with 8 kills while Duncan added a career high six kills.  Adam Heftka padded his career stats with 43 assists as well as five digs.

Ryan Ratajczak got back on track and led the Hawks with 18 digs and David Mellerski moved up in the career digs list after he got to 10 balls today.  He now occupies 7th place on the Hilbert career list passing Anthony Blasz who finished with 278 one season ago.

Hilbert won the first set 25-23 before Bard stormed back for a 25-17 victory.  Hilbert responded with another close win, 25-23 and then suffered a a big setback dropping 25-13.  Bard took the final set 15-10 to win their first UVC contest this year and to send the Hawks back home still searching for that league win.

Bard earned nine service aces and benefited from Hilbert's 20 service errors.  Besides the back of the court tallies, Bard finished with nine total blocks which contributed to Hilbert's 30 hitting errors in the match.

Hilbert (3-11, 0-4) does return to UVC play this week when they host D'Youville Thursday night February 13th with a 7pm first serve.
