Adam Weaver Prepares Mid-Air for a service ace
Box Score

Buffalo, N.Y.Adam Weaver, already the All-Time Kill leader took over the top spot in Service Aces for the men's volleyball program at Hilbert College tonight.  Unfortunately, the senior hitter's 20 kills and three aces weren't enough for the Hawks as they suffered a four-set United Volleyball Conference loss to Medaille College.

Medaille built an early lead in the opening match before Hilbert rallied after a timeout and forced a 23-23 tie.  Medaille closed out the set with a kill and a service ace to earn the 25-23 win.

Hilbert responded and built a small lead in the second set before they reach a stand-still at 13 points.Medaille made a run and stretched their lead to six quick points (19-13). The Hawks final three tallies were earned off two Medaille service errors and one Weaver kill in the 25-16 loss.

In what must have been an exciting set, neither team held a larger-than-four-point advantage for long.  Momentum carried both teams to the 28-26 Hilbert victory with Hilbert's final five points  earned off Maverick attack errors, and a Korey Schwab kill.

In another close set, Hilbert built a 9-6 lead by way of Weaver's third service ace.  Medaille rallied to build an 11-9 lead and slowly pulled away from there.  They stretched a18-14 advantage to 22-14 and then the final 25-17 score.

Weaver continues to average 5 kills per set as the #1 player in Division III.  The Hawks' attackers benefited from Adam Heftka's 20 assists and David Mellerski's 8.

Mellerski matched Andrew Wolbert with five kills and finished with second-best digs (7) behind Ryan Ratajczak's game-high 12 digs.

Adam Weaver snuck past Anthony Blasz who held the service aces record for less than one season.  Weaver currently stands at 72 aces after 282 sets played.
