MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Soccer opened play at the Morrisville Tournament today with a matchup against SUNY Poly. The Hawks fired six shots on goal and got a strong effort from goalie
Keira McFarland (13 saves) but ultimately fell 2-0 to the Wildcats.
After McFarland stopped the first shot of the game, SUNY Poly opened the scoring in the 13th minute to take an early 1-0 advantage. Following the goal, Hilbert generated seven first-half shots and put three on target but was unable to find the equalizer before halftime.
The Hawks continued to create opportunities in the second half, adding five shots and three shots on goal. However, SUNY Poly added an insurance marker in the 75th minute to push the lead to 2-0, which is how the matchup would end.
Ja'Lynn Sanders led Hilbert with five shots, while
Kendall Shetter recorded three shots, all on goal.
Valentina Hauser added three shots and two shots on target for the Hawks.
Keira McFarland was busy in goal, finishing with 13 saves while facing 26 shots and 15 shots on goal.

The Hawks will take on either Paul Smith's College or SUNY Morrisville tomorrow afternoon in day two of the Morrisville Tournament.
