2026 Men's Lacrosse Season Preview

2026 ROSTER 
The Hawks' 18-man roster features a blend of youth and experience as eight freshmen will join ten returners from last year's squad that appeared in the AMCC Championship game.

Captains Kristopher Newman, David Bolin, and Ty Franko are expected to lead this year's squad both on and off the field.

Newman, a 2025 AMCC First-Teamer, enters his senior season with 29 career points on 23 goals and six assists. The 6-5 senior from Milford, VA posted career highs in goals (14), points (16), shots on goal (29), and ground balls (38) a year ago.

Bolin enters his third season with the Hawks coming off a successful 2025 campaign that saw him earn the teams "Most Improved Player" honor. Bolin posted new personal bests in both ground balls and caused turnovers with 15 and nine, respectively.

Ty Franko will be leaned on to lead the Hilbert offense in his second collegiate season after he posted 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists in his rookie campaign. The 5-7 attackman from Amherst, NY fired 25 shots on goal while scooping 38 ground balls last season. He will be joined offensively by his brother, Aidan Franko, who enters his senior season with the Hawks with 18 career goals and 23 career points.

Defensively, Jonathan Roustum will play a key role for the Hawks in his sophomore season. Roustum tallied 44 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers as a freshman while also burying a pair of goals on his only two shots on goal of the season.

In goal, Kody Moore returns after making 15 stops across five appearances in his freshman campaign.

Incoming freshmen Eric Capling (attack), Hunter Cleary (defense), and Alex Arthur (face off) are all expected to produce immediately in their first collegiate seasons.

2026 SCHEDULE
The Hawks will navigate a ten-game schedule, including four home games this spring before the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) playoffs in late April.

Hilbert will open the 2026 season at home when the team welcomes Thiel College to Frontier High School on Saturday, March 7th at 12 pm. Following the home opener, the Hawks will travel to take on SUNY Poly on Wednesday, March 11th, before returning home to host SUNY Canton (March 21st).

Hilbert will then hit the road for four straight away games, as the Hawks take on Keuka (March 25th), Elmira (March 28th), La Roche (April 1st), and Pitt-Bradford (April 4th) away from home.

The Hawks conclude the regular season hosting two of their final three games at St. Francis High School. La Roche comes to Hamburg on April 8th for Hilbert's senior day, before Alfred State makes the trip on April 17th. Hilbert will travel to take on SUNY Cobleskill in between the home contests on April 11th.

 Following the regular season, the Hawks will be looking to qualify for the HCLC postseason which takes place on April 25th and 26th consisting of the top four teams in the conference.

COACHING / SUPPORT STAFF
Head Coach Mike Carbery enters his ninth season guiding the Men's Lacrosse Conference coming off a 2025 season that saw him bring the Hawks to the AMCC Championship game. After a 5-8 campaign that included a thrilling 7-6 overtime win over Pitt-Bradford in the AMCC semifinals, Carbery was honored as the Hilbert College Sal Buscaglia Coach of the Year. Since his arrival in 2018, Carbery has guided the Hilbert Hawks to five post-season tournaments across three different conferences and has led 26 student-athletes to All-Conference teams.

Serving alongside Carbery is Seth Gregg who has been with the program since 2022.

Professor Colleen Kumiega, Chairperson in the Behavioral Sciences department,continues with her support of the men's lacrosse program by serving as the team's Faculty Team Advisor. She is an additional source of academic support and serves as a resource regarding academic issues for the Men's Lacrosse student-athletes and coaches. Professor Kumiega's association with the department also creates a communication link between faculty, student-athletes, and coaches.
