Hawks Fall to Chatham at Home

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Hockey hosted Chatham University this evening in the back half of the UCHC home and home series between the Hawks and the Cougars.

Hilbert dropped a second straight conference matchup to Chatham as the victors used multiple goals in each period to take a 7-1 victory.

Chatham opened the scoring at 4:41 of the first and doubled the advantage with another goal at 18:52. The Hawks generated ten shots in the opening frame including six on their lone powerplay of the period but found themselves down 2-0 after 20 minutes.

The deficit grew in the second period, as Chatham tallied at 11:33, 17:47, and again at 18:31 to make it 5–0.

Hilbert broke through on the power play early in the third period to get on the board, as Victoria Battaglia buried a feed from Jacqueline Alaburda and Kelsey Fuller to make it a 5-1 game.

Following the Hilbert tally, Chatham added goals at 11:02 and 14:18 to close out the scoring.

Goaltender Tia Card remained active throughout the contest, making 47 saves including six while shorthanded as Hilbert went 3/3 on the penalty kill.

Battaglia added two shots on goal and a team-high seven faceoff wins to her goal, while Amelia Murphy and Sophia Gannon led the Hawks with three shots on goal each.

Defensively, Caitlin Conrad led the Hawks with seven blocked shots, followed by Victoria Koenig with three.

The Hawks continue UCHC play next week with a Tuesday Matchup against Elmira at 12 pm at the Nike Base.
