Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | Andrew Loveless

Hawks Taken Down by Neumann, 3-1

ASTON, PA – Hilbert College Women's Hockey dropped a 3–1 decision to Neumann University on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the weekend series at IceWorks.

After a scoreless first period, Hilbert broke through early in the second. Jacqueline Alaburda opened the scoring at 2:29, netting her second goal of the season off assists from Izabelle Wagner and Jamie Bower to give the Hawks a 1–0 lead.

Neumann responded just over four minutes later with an unassisted goal to tie the game, then took the lead midway through the second period with a power-play tally that proved to be the game-winner. The Knights added an insurance goal early in the third period to extend their advantage to 3–1.

Hilbert continued to press offensively but was unable to find the back of the net again despite several chances, including a third-period power play.

Brook Thompson made 29 saves in goal for the Hawks, turning aside consistent pressure throughout the afternoon. Alaburda led Hilbert offensively with her goal, while Wagner and Bower each recorded an assist.

Victoria Battaglia led the way with five shots on goal, while Caitlin Conrad blocked five Knight attempts.
