HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's basketball team dropped a 74-43 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference decision to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday night at the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.
Penn State Behrend (11-5, 6-1 AMCC) set the tone early, opening the game with suffocating defense and efficient scoring to build a 24-3 advantage after the first quarter. Hilbert (1-14, 1-5 AMCC) continued to battle, but struggled to find offensive rhythm in the opening half as the Lions carried a 44–10 lead into halftime.
The Hawks responded with renewed energy coming out of the break, showing improved ball movement and defensive intensity in the second half. Hilbert matched Behrend's offensive efficiency in the third quarter (14-16) and closed the game with its strongest offensive stretch in the fourth, posting 19 points over the final 10 minutes.
Despite the improved second-half effort, Penn State Behrend maintained control throughout the contest, finishing the game shooting 40.6 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point range. The Lions also held advantages in points in the paint (32-16) and fast-break points (14-1).
Mia Aldaya led the Hawks with 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers while adding five rebounds.
Meghan Balen provided a spark off the bench, leading Hilbert in scoring with a game-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulling down seven rebounds.
Hailey Alba chipped in five points and three rebounds, while
Promesse Rwigamba added three points in limited minutes.
Hilbert finished the game with 41 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive glass, generating second-chance opportunities late.
Bianca Iten pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, and
Jayla Jackson contributed six boards off the bench.
The Hawks look to rebound this weekend when they travel to Pitt-Greensburg for a 1 pm tip Saturday, January 17th.
