HAMBURG, N.Y. –Hilbert College Women's Soccer started the 2025 season in dominant fashion, securing a 3-0 win over SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon at Hawk Field.
The Hawks wasted no time getting on the board as
Ja'Lynn Sanders found the back of the net in the 3rd minute for the first of her career, off a setup from
Madison Matuszak, giving Hilbert early momentum.
After controlling much of the possession in the opening half, Hilbert doubled its lead midway through the second. In the 64th minute,
Acadia Evans became the second Hawk of the game to grab her first collegiate goal, as the freshman calmly converted a penalty kick drawn by
Evin Stauffer to push the advantage to 2-0.
The Hawks sealed the match in the 81st minute when Stauffer scored her first goal of the year, finishing a well-placed assist from
Julia Fabiano into the bottom corner of the net.
Hilbert outshot the Roos 25-17, putting 13 attempts on frame compared to nine for SUNY Canton.
Keira McFarland was perfect between the pipes for Hilbert, making nine saves for her first win and shutout of the year.
