CRESSON, PA – Hilbert College Baseball traveled to Calandra-Smith Baseball Field this afternoon for a doubleheader against the Mounties from Mount Aloysius College. In a pair of crucial AMCC contests, the Hawks combined for 31 hits and 30 runs to sweep the Mounties and improve to 4-4 in conference play.
After falling down 2-0 in game one, the Hawks used a ten-run third inning to take a 14-6 victory, before tallying at least three runs in three different game-two frames to complete the sweep with a 16-5 win.
Jack Duffek and
Dustin Hendrix led the offense in a huge way as the duo combined for twelve RBIs and three home runs on the afternoon. Duffek blasted a pair of home runs in a 2-4, four RBI game one performance, while Hendrix finished a double shy of the cycle in the night cap as he went 3-4 with a triple, home run, two runs and seven RBIs.
Nolan Evans (6.1 IP, 3 Ks) and
Dylan Moorhouse (5 IP, 3 ER) each earned a win on the mound while
David Alessi,
Joe Reitebach, and
Ryan Hilton each saw time in relief.

Game One:
- The Mounties opened the scoring on the afternoon with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first after a scoreless frame from the Hilbert offense. The teams would each record zeroes in the second before the Hawks broke the game open in the top of the third with ten runs.
- Joey Haynes cut the lead in half with an RBI single to open the scoring for the Hawks, before Nolan Evans' bases clearing three RBI double and Duffek's two-run home run quickly made it 6-2. RBI singles from Austin Wasily and Alex Ellison, and a two-run scoring error finished the scoring in the frame with the Hawks up 10-1.
- After two scoreless innings, Hilbert added a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to extend the lead to 14-1. Duffek's second two-run shot of the game made it 12-1 after the sixth, before Hendrix's RBI double and Billy LoBello's RBI single sent the game into the bottom of the seventh with the Hawks up 14-1
- The Mounties added four runs in the final frame on two doubles and a single, but the deficit would be too much to overcome as Hilbert took game one 14-6.
Game Two:
- Following a scoreless opening frame, Hilbert got the game's first run in the top of the second after Hendrix's RBI triple brought home Patrick Evans for a 1-0 advantage. The Hawks would double the lead in the third on a Harley Hoag RBI single, before a five-run fifth inning opened up a commanding 7-0 lead.
- Patrick Evans (two), Hendrix, Ellison, and Haynes all notched an RBI in the frame to take control of the game for the Hawks.
- The Mounties answered with three runs of their own in the home half of the fifth, but Hilbert responded back with Hendrix's three-run homer in the top of the sixth to maintain the seven-run advantage followed by another run in the top of the seventh to make it an 11-3 game.
- A two RBI double for the hosts made it 11-5 heading into the eighth, but the Hawks' second five-run inning of the game lead to an early end in game two.
- RBIs from Hendrix (two), Ellison, Haynes, and Nolan Evans, paired with a scoreless bottom half of the inning, ended the contest after eight innings with Hilbert taking a 16-5 win and a sweep over the Mounties.
