HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College Baseball hosted Chatham University this afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Frontier High School. The Hawks earned a pair victories over the Cougars as the Hilbert pitching staff held Chatham to just three runs in each game, while the offense totaled 14 runs on the day.

Offensively,

Kyle Borrello all recorded multi-RBI games on the afternoon. Evans led the Hawks with four runs scored on the day, to go along with a two-run home run in the sixth inning of game two.
Game One: Hilbert 5 – Chatham 3
Game Two: Hilbert 9 – Chatham 3
Game One:
- The Hawks fell behind early as the Cougars used a first inning sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead, before the teams played scoreless second and third frames.
- A pair of bases loaded walks allowed the visitors to take a 3-0 advantage in the top of the fourth, but Hilbert got on the board in the home half of the inning after an RBI groundout from Dustin Hendrix scored Nolan Evans.
- Following two scoreless innings from Hilton, the Hawks enjoyed an offensive outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning to take control of the game. Singles from Joey Haynes and Duffek, and a walk from Borrello loaded the bases, before a clutch, two-out, two-RBI single from Wasily tied the game at three all. With a pair of runners in scoring position following the Wasily single, the Hawks took advantage of a Chatham error to score two more runs in the frame and take a 5-3 lead into the top of the seventh.
- Despite a leadoff single by the Cougars, Hilton made quick work of the visitors in the final frame to close out his strong outing and wrap up the 5-3 Hilbert win.
Game Two:
- After going down early in game one, the Hilbert offense got an early start in the night cap with a three-run first inning. Duffek's two-RBI double scored Patrick Evans and Harley Hoag, before Borrello's bunt brought home Nolan Evans to make it 3-0 after one inning.
- With Harford cruising on the mound, the Hawks held the three-run lead into the top of the fourth, where Chatham got on the board with a pair of runs to make it 3-2.
- However, Hilbert did not take long to answer the Cougar runs, as the Hawks added the next six runs to the scoreboard between the fifth and sixth innings to stretch the lead to 9-2. RBI free passes by Borrello (walk), Hendrix (walk), and Wasily (HBP), and an RBI single by Alex Ellison made it 7-2 after the fifth, before Nolan Evans' two-run shot extended the lead to seven runs in the bottom of the seventh.
- Chatham scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh to make it 9-3, but that would be how the game ended as the Hawks completed the sweep of the Cougars to improve to 12-13 on the season.
