Hawks Fall to Behrend in AMCC Play

ERIE, PA – Hilbert started the game well this evening inside the Junker Center against Penn State Behrend, the AMCC's top seed, but a big second quarter helped the undefeated Lions clinch the regular season title with a 91-27 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kelsey Schlagenhauf started the game on fire for the Hawks, scoring the team's first seven points of the contest to keep pace with Behrend.
  • Kylie Morgan's layup with 5:33 to go in the quarter gave Hilbert their first lead of the game at 9-8.
  • Following the Hilbert one-point advantage, the Lions ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to hold a 14-9 lead after ten minutes. The hosts continued this run with the first four points of the second quarter before Morgan added a layup to make it 18-11.
  • However, Penn State Behrend ended the half on a 27-0 run to hold a comfortable 45-11 lead after two quarters of play.
  • The Lions began the third quarter with ten more consecutive points before Schlagenhauf's free throw ended the Hawks' scoring drought. Schlagenhauf added two more points in the frame, while Mackenzie Catan (two points) and LaDasia Leak (three points) each added to the guest side of the scoreboard before the fourth quarter.
  • In the final ten minutes, Hilbert added eight more points on buckets from Schlagenhauf, Morgan, and Catan to wrap up the Hawks' scoring for the game. Behrend shot 66% from deep in the quarter to add 20 more points to their final tally in the 91-27 final.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Schlagenhauf notched her third double-double of the campaign with her 15-point ten rebound performance. Morgan (five), Catan (four), and Leak (three) rounded out the Hilbert scoring in the game.
