HILO, HAWAI'I – Hilbert College Women's Basketball played its second and final game at the Big Island Classic in Hawai'i this evening against Loras College and the Hawks fell, 79-23 to the Duhawks inside the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Loras jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest, taking an 18–5 advantage after the first quarter and extending the margin to 40–10 at halftime. Hilbert enjoyed its best offensive stretch out of the break, but the Duhawks kept up the pressure to close out the victory.
After a ten-point first half, led by
Learsi Sabala's four points, the Hawks doubled their offensive output with a ten-point third quarter.
LaDasia Leak led the way with four points in the frame, while Sabala,
Kayla Johnson, and
Ty'teareya Thomas each contributed two points.
Leak and
Bianca Iten rounded out the scoring for the Hawks in the fourth quarter in the non-conference defeat.
Hilbert was led by Leak and Sabala offensively with six points each. Iten contributed five points and a team-high four rebounds while Johnson added four points, and
Nyema Blair chipped in defensively with two steals.
