Women's Hockey Hosts Albertus Magnus in First Home UCHC Game

HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College Women's Hockey hosted Albertus Magnus this evening at the Nike Base in the first home UCHC contest in program history. The Falcons, who received votes in the recent USCHO Poll, used a strong opening 40 minutes to take down the Hawks, 8-0.

Albertus Magnus set the tone early with three first-period goals, then extended the lead with five during the second period to put the game away.

The Hawks settled in during the game's final frame, holding the Falcons off the scoreboard and allowing 15 shots, the fewest in any of the three periods. Kelsey Fuller fired Hilbert's lone shot of the period as the Hawks used a powerplay opportunity to generate offense.

In goal for Hilbert, Tia Card made the start and recorded seven saves in the opening nine minutes. She was relieved by Jewely Monford, who recorded 46 saves over the remaining 50+ minutes of play, despite facing 61 total shots.

On the defensive end, the Hawks blocked 21 shots with Victoria Koenig (six), Caitlin Conrad (three), Victoria Battaglia (two) and Sophia Perry (two) all blocking multiple shots. In the dot, Hilbert won over 50% of the draws with Battaglia (15/22) and Brooke Kwiecien (8/13) leading the way.

Offensively, Fuller (four) and Jacqueline Alaburda (one) combined to take all five of the team's shots on goal.
