UTICA, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Hockey fell 6-0 to Utica this afternoon as the Hawks wrapped up the first UCHC weekend in team history with its second matchup against the Pioneers in as many days.
Utica struck early, capitalizing on its first power play of the afternoon. After a Hilbert tripping minor at 2:20 of the first, the Pioneers needed just over a minute to open the scoring in the game.
Utica extended the lead at 15:20 before adding a third goal in the final minute of the first to take a 3–0 advantage into the locker room.
The pressure continued just 57 seconds into the second period, as the hosts made it 4–0. The Hawks got a pair of shots from
Victoria Battaglia and an attempt from
Kelsey Fuller in the period, but Utica continued the offense with a fifth goal at 15:46.
Hilbert goaltender
Tia Card kept the Pioneers off the board for much of the final frame, as she stopped the first 19 Utica shots of the period before the hosts tacked on one more tally in the final minute of the contest.
Card made 62 saves and posted a .912 save percentage in her second appearance of the year.
Victoria Koenig led a unit that blocked 23 shots Hilbert with five blocks, while Battaglia's three shots paced the Hawks.
