FREDONIA, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Basketball dropped an 88-48 road contest at Fredonia on Wednesday evening inside Dods Hall.
Hilbert came out strong in the opening quarter, trading baskets with the Blue Devils as the hosts led 19–16 after the first ten minutes.
Nyema Blair led the way for the Hawks with six points in the frame, while
Learsi Sabala and
Bianca Iten each added four points in the quarter.
However, Fredonia's defense tightened in the second quarter, holding the Hawks to 11 points and taking a 41–27 lead into halftime. The Blue Devils scored the first six points in the quarter, and used runs of five and six points to take the 14-point advantage into the break.
Out of the break, the hosts extended their lead and never looked back, as Fredonia used big third and fourth quarters to earn the non-conference victory over the Hawks.
Kayla Johnson had a big fourth quarter for the Hawks, as she posted eight of the team's final eleven points.
Offensively, Blair paced Hilbert with 10 points, five steals, and three rebounds in an efficient 5-of-7 shooting performance. Sabala added eight points and four rebounds, while Johnson provided Hilbert with eight points and three assists off the bench.
Bianca Iten chipped in six points and five boards.
