Murphy Records First Career Goal as Hawks Fall to Keene State

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Hockey opened its 2025–26 campaign on home ice Friday night, falling 8–1 to visiting Keene State at the Nike Base.

Sophomore Amelia Murphy got the Hawks on the board midway through the third period, scoring on the power play at 4:46 with an assist from Victoria Battaglia. The tally marked Hilbert's first goal of the new season, and the first goal of Murphy's collegiate career. Battaglia also notched her first career point on the tally.

Keene State (1–0–0) came out strong, scoring twice in the opening frame and adding three more in the second to build a 5–0 lead heading into a final frame that saw the visitors tack on three additional goals. The Owls' balanced attack was led by Molly Price and Ava Iantosca, who each recorded two goals and two assists.

The Hawks were led by a 56-save performance from senior goaltender Tia Card, who faced 64 total shots in the contest. Kelsey Fuller fired a team-high four shots on goal, while Battaglia played a strong two-way game with six blocked shots and led all players in faceoff wins (18-for-31) to go along with her third period assist.

Hilbert converted one of five power-play opportunities and limited Keene State to a single goal on four chances.
