AMHERST, NY – Hilbert College Women's Hockey faced a tough test this afternoon when the team hosted #15 (USCHO.Com) Nazareth University at the Northtown Center.

Early on, Hilbert was able to limit the offense of the Golden Flyers while generating chances of their own, but as the game went on, the visitors found their stride offensively and skated to a 15-0 victory.

While the Golden Flyers were able to fire off 30 shots in the opening frame, many of their looks were from the perimeter, as goalie Jewely Monford racked up 28 saves in the period. Jacqueline Alaburda, Sophia Perry, and Izabelle Wagner each recorded a shot in the opening 20 minutes, but the only two goals of the period belonged to Nazareth.

Over the final two periods of the game, the Golden Flyers really got things going in the Hilbert defensive zone, as they found the back of the net 13 more times in the last 40 minutes of the contest. Hilbert recorded five more shots, and Monford tacked on 45 more stops in this span, but the relentless attack of Nazareth led to the 15-0 final.
 
GAME NOTES

• Monford made 73 saves in the game, the most of her career and one shy of the program-high 74 saves made by Brook Thompson earlier this season.
• Alaburda and Kelsey Fuller both recorded multiple shots for the Hawks with two each.
• Hilbert blocked 29 shots as a team with Caitlin Conrad (7) and Alaburda (6) leading the way.

The two teams are back at it again tomorrow, this time in Rochester, as Nazareth is hosting the second game of the back-to-back at Tim Horton's Iceplex. Puck drop is set for 2 pm.
