HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College Women's Basketball hosted the Mount Aloysius College Mounties this evening at the Hafner Recreation Center in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.
Significant advantages in points in the paint, second chance points, and bench points for the visitors helped the Mounties take this one 67-31.
The Hawks were led by
Kayla Johnson and
Kelsey Schlagenhauf in this one as the duo posted ten and nine points respectively. Johnson added a pair of steals, while Schlagenhauf played all 40 minutes for Hilbert, posting team highs with eight rebounds and three steals.
LaDasia Leak did a little bit of everything for the Hawks, as the freshman posted four points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Both teams hit on 38% of their field goal attempts in the first quarter, but a pair of made threes and two made free throws would be the difference for the Mounties as they held an 18-10 advantage after ten minutes of play. Johnson did much of her damage in this frame, recording six early points for the Hawks.
The teams went in opposite directions in terms of their shooting in the second quarter, as the Mounties shot 40% to the Hawks 5.5%. Schlagenhauf recorded all three Hilbert points in the frame as a 17-3 advantage for Mount Aloysius in the quarter would send the game into the break with the visitors leading 35-13.
Hilbert came out of the locker room with their best quarter of the game, getting points from four different players. Schlagenhauf (four points), Johnson (four points), Leak (two points), and
Mackenzie Catan (two points) contributed to the twelve-point effort which sent the game into its' final ten minutes with the Mounties up 48-25.
Catan and
Kylie Morgan each added three points in the fourth quarter for the Hawks while the Mounties continues to add to their total to win this one 67-31.
