HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert Women's Soccer hosted Keuka College this evening for the team's home opener. The visiting Wolves played identical halves, scoring twice on 17 shots in each half on their way to a 4-0 win to spoil the first game on campus this season for the Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Keuka came out firing early, ripping seven shots at the Hilbert net, but none of the Wolves' attempts found the target. The first shot on net of the game came in the 26th minute from Keuka as Hilbert goalkeeper,
Keira McFarland, was up to the test with a diving save to her right.
However, a perfectly placed strike soon after in the 28
th minute opened the scoring for the Wolves. The visitors kept the offense up as McFarland was called upon three more times after the goal. Fortunately for the Wolves, the third shot went in after the sophomore goalkeeper of the Hawks did all she could to stop the first two. Like the first goal, the second tally for Keuka was a well-aimed strike into the upper part of the Hawks' net to send the game into halftime 2-0.
McFarland picked up where she left off in the first half, making six consecutive stops to start the second 45 minutes of the game. However, the offensive onslaught would be too much for Hilbert as Keuka would grab another two goals in the half to complete the 4-0 scoreline.
GAME NOTES
- McFarland made 13 stops on 17 shots on net in her first action of the season.
- The Hawks had a pair of corners but were unable to record a shot in the contest.
