THE OPPONENT
After taking down #14 Ithaca last week, the Gulls earned an improvement in the national rankings (14th in AFCA Poll | 15th in D3football.com poll, up one spot in each). The 2-0 start is the fifth such start in program history as they will look to start 3-0 for the first time since 2022's 10-0 start.
The defense of Endicott has been on display to start the year, with the Gulls holding each of their first two opponents under 200 total yards of offense. Leading the way is senior defensive lineman, Hector Johnson, who has 13 total tackles and a sack on the year. The Gulls have forced five turnovers in their two games, with five different players contributing on the takeaways.
Offensively, Endicott has totaled 722 yards of offense in their two games, with 420 passing yards and 302 rushing yards. Graduate quarterback, Clayton Marengi, has accounted for much of the offense for the Gulls, completing 27 of 43 passes for 389 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 50 yards on 12 rushes and another td on the ground. Including Marengi, Endicott has a balanced attack on the ground as three Gulls have rushed the ball at least ten times, and the team has seven players with at least 20 rushing yards.
The Gulls are coached by Paul McGonagle who is in his seventh year. McGonagle boasts a 43-12 record in his time at Endicott to go along with four CCC football coach of the year honors as well as being named the 2023 D3football.com All Region 1 coach of the year.
